As we get into rainy season, I have to say: I don’t mind walking in a bit of rain, and sometimes even making a dash through a downpour is unavoidable. But dressing for the rain is key — I’m far more comfortable if I’m wearing a hooded rain jacket (I have this one after tons of great reader recommendations, and it’s got a nice deep hood), a brimmed hat so my glasses don’t get wet, and rainboots like either of these bestsellers.
But the bag component is tricky — sure, you can always tuck it under your coat, but that’s less than ideal if you’ve got a long commute in drizzle. So I was happy to see this waterproof backpack that converts to a north/south tote. It seems perfect for anyone biking to work or with more than a 2-minute walk to their subway station, and I like that it’s pretty affordable at $125. (I’d also take this bag on a vacation in a heartbeat since it always seems like we get stuck in the rain!)
The bag also comes in a pretty dusty blue. Shift Waterproof Backpack
